As you know, Valve broke its unlucky streak in the console market with Steam Deck. Launched in 2022, the handheld console revitalized a segment that was thought to be obsolete. Now, it seems Valve has changed its stance on console development once again. Here are the details!
New Console Might Feature AMD RDNA 4 Architecture
According to recent industry leaks, Valve has been working on a new Steam console for some time. Reports from Wccftech suggest that Valve is developing drivers for AMD’s unreleased Radeon RX 9070 GPU, which could indicate the development of a new console.

While there has been no official confirmation from Valve, rumors suggest the company is working on a SteamOS-powered device that connects directly to a TV to run Steam games—potentially eyeing the success of the Nintendo Switch.
Another strong possibility is that this new device is a desktop version of the Steam Deck. As you know, the Steam Deck runs on Linux-based SteamOS and supports Big Picture Mode for playing games on a TV screen. If these claims are true, Valve could be planning to expand beyond handheld gaming into a full-fledged home console experience.
One of the biggest questions is Valve’s pricing strategy. The company launched the base Steam Deck model at a competitive price, but integrating a high-end GPU like AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 could make affordability a major challenge.
💬 What do you think? Should Valve step back into the console market? Will this new device succeed like Steam Deck, or will it share the fate of the failed Steam Machine? Share your thoughts in the comments!
