Important developments continue to take place in the chip world. While Broadcom is interested in a critical unit of Intel, TSMC has also stepped in for Intel’s production facilities. Here are the details of the negotiations behind the scenes…
Broadcom moves for Intel’s chip design unit
Broadcom Inc. has begun informal talks with its advisors to acquire Intel’s chip design and marketing unit. According to the Wall Street Journal, an official offer has not yet been submitted to Intel.
This development comes at a time of increased activity in the chip industry. According to available information, Taiwan-based semiconductor giant TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.) is in preliminary talks to take a controlling stake in Intel’s production facilities. Moreover, this move is being encouraged as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to strengthen production in the US.
However, two giant companies, Broadcom and TSMC, are moving forward on different plans and do not cooperate with each other. It is stated that the negotiations are currently in the preliminary preparation stage.
If Broadcom takes over Intel’s chip design and marketing business, there could be a major power shift in the chip industry. Likewise, TSMC’s control of Intel’s factories could create major transformations in the production process. For now, all eyes are on the steps to be taken by these giant technology companies. We will see new developments together in the coming days.
