Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD introduced its new electric bus model B13.b with a range of 700 kilometers at the UITP Summit held in Hamburg. Developed for use in urban transportation as well as short-distance intercity routes, the B13.b has entered the European market with its high battery capacity, passenger carrying capacity and charging options.
BYD introduced its electric bus with a range of 700 km
The new model is positioned as the upper segment of the fully electric B12 bus introduced in 2023. The B13.b is BYD’s second bus model to use the Blade Battery Chassis platform. In this platform, battery cells are directly integrated into the chassis of the vehicle. This structure, called “Cell-to-chassis”, optimizes battery placement while increasing the vehicle’s energy efficiency.

The B13.b offers a higher energy capacity compared to its predecessor. The vehicle, which has a maximum battery capacity of 560 kWh, can provide a range of up to 700 kilometers on a single charge. Alternatively, there is a version with a capacity of 476 kWh and a range of 620 kilometers. The vehicle has two hub motors, each producing 150 kW. Thanks to these motors, the bus can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
The bus, which has a total length of 13.2 meters, has 49 seating seats and can carry a total of 78 passengers. The B13.b offers both single-sided and double-sided charging support. Equipped with a 192 kW fast DC charging output, the system allows simultaneous charging from both sides when necessary. In addition, the bus supports high-speed charging support of up to 500 kW via the pantograph system.
No information was given as to when the first deliveries of the model will start in the European market. So what do you think about this vehicle? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
