BYD unveiled the new Seal 06 GT at an automotive show in China. Based on the Ocean-M concept shown earlier this year, the electric vehicle is BYD’s first GT model aimed at younger customers.
BYD Seal 06 GT specs
Built on BYD’s latest e-Platform 3.0 Evo platform, the Seal 06 GT measures 4630 mm long, 1880 mm wide and 1490 mm high. It also has a wheelbase of 2820 mm. This means it has similar dimensions to popular vehicles such as the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
BYD will offer the Seal 06 GT with both single and twin-engine powertrain options. The single-engine version produces 160-165kW, while the twin-engine version gets 110kW at the front and 200kW at the rear for a total of 310kW.
The vehicle also features an 800V silicon carbide charging support that can fill the battery to 50 percent in just 20 minutes. BYD also optimizes the charging speed according to the last charge, enabling charging from 80 percent to 100 percent in about 18 minutes. It will also be powered by next-generation C2B batteries.
The price of Seal 06 GT starts from 21 thousand 150 dollars and goes up to 28 thousand dollars. The company, which has started accepting reservations for its new electric hatchback in China, is uncertain when it will open to the global market.
