BYD has officially launched its compact electric SUV model, the Atto 2, in the European market. The new model made its European debut last month at the Brussels Motor Show and is now preparing to hit the roads across Europe and Turkey.
What to Expect from the BYD Atto 2?
Despite being smaller than one of Europe’s best-selling electric crossovers, the Volvo EX30, the BYD Atto 2 is expected to make a strong impact in the European market. Stella Li, the Vice President of BYD, commented, “The B-SUV segment is crucial for Europe, and Atto 2 is ready to attract a wide range of potential customers.”

The Atto 2’s dimensions are 4310 mm in length, 1830 mm in width, and 1675 mm in height. In comparison, the Volvo EX30 measures 4233 mm in length, 1838 mm in width, and 1550 mm in height.
In terms of range, the Atto 2 comes with a 45.12 kWh battery pack, offering an estimated 312 km range on a single charge, according to WLTP standards. This is slightly below the Volvo EX30’s 476 km WLTP range.
BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 architecture gives the Atto 2 a 2620 mm wheelbase, comparable to the Volvo EX30’s 2650 mm wheelbase, offering a spacious interior. Although BYD has not yet revealed the pricing, it is expected to be priced below the Volvo EX30’s starting price of €36,000 in Europe.
In China, BYD has achieved significant success with its smaller electric vehicles, selling around 125,000 units of the Yuan Up model, which starts at around $13,000 in 2024.
