OpenAI has taken its biggest step yet in transforming its popular chatbot ChatGPT from a simple text tool into a massive platform. With an announcement on Wednesday, the company officially launched its new app store, allowing developers to integrate their own applications into the ChatGPT ecosystem. Now, you can use ChatGPT not just for chatting, but also for grocery shopping or finalizing vacation plans.
Spotify, Canva, and Zillow integrated into the chat
This feature, first hinted at in October and built with the Apps SDK, allows users to utilize their favorite services directly through the ChatGPT interface. Already, major platforms like Expedia, Spotify, Zillow, and Canva are integrated into the system.

So what does this mean? For example, when you want to create a playlist for a party, you won’t need to leave the app and go to Spotify. You can tell ChatGPT to create an 80s-themed playlist and save it directly to your Spotify account. Similarly, when preparing a presentation, thanks to Canva integration, you can convert drafts into slideshows in seconds.
With this move, OpenAI is calling on all developers, not just large companies. Thanks to the beta-phased Apps SDK, any developer can create and submit their own application for approval. This process, which can be tracked via the OpenAI Developer Platform, will see approved applications gradually added to the store over the next year.
The company’s vision is based on making applications feel like a natural extension of chat. Instead of opening dozens of different tabs to place a grocery order, search for a house, or manage a project, you’ll be able to manage everything from a single window. This could significantly increase the time users spend on ChatGPT.
So, do you think the ChatGPT app store could replace the App Store or Play Store on smartphones? Which applications would you like to see on ChatGPT? Share your thoughts in the comments!
