Thanks to their advanced conversational abilities, artificial intelligence models quickly became part of our lives. While ChatGPT leads in this field, there are many models in the market. However, ChatGPT making a mistake in a simple addition operation and then apologizing raised eyebrows.
Why does ChatGPT make mistake in addition operations?
ChatGPT was asked to perform a simple addition operation. Accordingly, a command was entered with the names of several people and the prices next to them. However, although the chatbot understood all the values correctly, it incorrectly calculated the result of the addition operation.
When it found 8500 instead of the correct total of 8300, it was pointed out that it made a mistake. It was requested to recheck, and ChatGPT, realizing its mistake, stated that it had repeated the operation and reached the correct result of 8300.
When asked why it made the mistake in the addition operation, it did not hesitate to apologize. Accordingly, it said, “I apologize, I made a mistake in my response by accident. I did not perform the operation correctly and reached the wrong result. I apologize for the miscalculation. The correct result should have been 8300. Thank you for the correction.
We know that AI-based systems often give incorrect answers. It has even been stated that it previously produced fake information about a Mayor and led to disinformation. In this context, the Mayor also filed a lawsuit against ChatGPT.
Additionally, Google acknowledged errors in the Gemini service for creating human images. In this regard, Google decided to temporarily suspend the human creation category in the Gemini image service.
