Artificial intelligence technologies, which have developed in recent years, have become a part of our lives. From chatbots that can answer any question you ask to artificial intelligence systems that create games; from software that produces 3D models to tools that predict natural disasters, a wide range of artificial intelligence applications have become a part of our lives.
Artificial intelligence is also becoming widespread in the field of health over the years. Although there are concerns about this issue, studies are being carried out. Finally, there was an important development. Researchers compared the chat bot ChatGPT with doctors. The result was as predicted. Here are the details…
ChatGPT is about 10 times faster than doctors
According to a research article published in the journal “Acta Orthopaedica”, in a study conducted by Swedish researchers, discharge papers for 6 unrealistic cases prepared by 2 orthopedic surgeons were examined and filled in by both doctors and ChatGPT.
The reports prepared by both doctors and ChatGPT were presented to a panel of 15 experts in the field. The experts found no difference between the reports. However, there was a notable difference in the time it took to prepare the notes.
Accordingly, while doctors spend an average of 27.8 minutes to prepare a report, ChatGPT completes this process in an average of only 2.9 minutes. This means that the AI tool is about 10 times faster.
Cyrus Broden, an orthopedic doctor at Uppsala University Hospital in Switzerland, said that the reports written by ChatGPT are very similar to those written by human hands and that the artificial intelligence tool performs well in this context.
After this remarkable study, Broden announced that they have started preparations for a more comprehensive test involving the medical records of 1000 real patients in order to examine the potential of artificial intelligence technology in the field of health in more depth.
