Google’s M122 Chrome update brings a text generator called “Help Me Write” that helps users write on any website.
Chrome update brings AI-powered ‘Help Me Write’ feature
This feature uses artificial intelligence to assist users with typing. Previously limited to certain Google Workspace apps and subscriptions, the feature will now work in any text box on any website in Chrome.
Google calls this feature an AI writing assistant, which is officially in the testing phase. After Chrome users find a text box to help them write, they will be able to open the Help Me Write window and give a writing suggestion.
The feature can shape writing samples using the context of the web page the user is viewing. You can see an example in the images above. The writing sample returned by the Help Me Write feature in Google Chrome is much longer and more descriptive than the original suggestion. In short, the feature saves users time. The new Chrome feature seems to be one of the most useful AI tools ever released.
For example, if you need to communicate with a company’s support chat bot or email hotline, the communication doesn’t have to be perfect. In such a situation, using the Help Me Type feature coming with the Chrome update will save you a lot of time.
WhatsApp is working to standardize high quality photo sharing instead of manually selecting it.
However, it’s worth noting that generative AI can still make mistakes and Google warns users about this. When it’s important that your writing is authentic, it’s better to write it yourself instead of using Help Me Write.
Help Me Write is available starting today on Chrome M122, in the US and in English. It’s available in the Chrome browser on macOS and Windows platforms, but there’s no mention of ChromeOS support in the press release.
