Coca-Cola has introduced its new hydrogen-powered beverage vending machine, which, unlike traditional vending machines, can operate without the need for an electrical outlet. According to the company’s statement, this machine will operate on hydrogen, a completely renewable energy source, and will offer significant advantages for use in regions with limited electrical infrastructure.
Coca-Cola announces its hydrogen-powered vending machine
The vending machine can generate its own energy using hydrogen fuel cells. Thanks to hydrogen cartridges, it operates without the need for a grid-connected energy source. This innovation allows it to be used especially in remote areas, areas where energy access is restricted after natural disasters, and regions with poor infrastructure.

Coca-Cola management states that the device is also compatible with sustainability strategies. The biggest difference between the new vending machine and traditional models is that it is equipped with an additional unit on the right side. The innovative unit houses hydrogen fuel cells and provides the energy necessary for the operation of the device.
However, this design also significantly increases the size of the machine. No detailed information has yet been shared about how the model, which takes up more space than standard vending machines, will be positioned in commercial areas and its portability.
The company has not made a clear statement about how long the hydrogen cartridges can provide power. Details such as hydrogen filling time, lifespan and operating costs are expected to be shared at the launch event at the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo.
