Apple is eliminating the color difference on the back of the iPhone 17 Pro models, a common complaint among many users, with the iPhone 18 Pro series. The glass cutout used on the back of the current iPhone 17 Pro models for MagSafe charging caused a noticeable color difference between the phone’s aluminum frame and the Ceramic Shield glass. This design detail was criticized for its aesthetic appeal.
No color difference on the iPhone 18 Pro
According to new reports, Apple is changing this with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The company is revamping its rear glass replacement process, achieving a more seamless look between the glass and aluminum frame.

This means that the color difference won’t be as noticeable on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Another rumor originating from China supports this claim, stating that the Ceramic Shield will have a slightly transparent design. This change gives the phone’s back a more aesthetically pleasing and uniform appearance.
Meanwhile, important information is also emerging regarding the technical specifications of the iPhone 18 Pro series. Both models reportedly feature the A20 Pro chip manufactured on TSMC’s latest 2nm process.
It’s also been reported that Apple will use its own C2 modem instead of Qualcomm’s in-house developed modem in these models. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone in September 2026.
