In a surprise move, Microsoft has decided to make its most powerful AI model even more powerful. Copilot, based on the GPT-4 model, will now use GPT-4 Turbo for all users. This previously paid feature will now be available for free.
GPT-4 Turbo is now available with Copilot
Copilot, based on OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo model, was previously available with a $20 per month Copilot Pro subscription tier. However, Microsoft has decided to update the standard GPT-4 model with GPT-4 Turbo for its free users.
The move was announced by Mikhail Parakhin, Microsoft’s President of Advertising and Web Services. GPT-4 Turbo will offer a significantly larger command window of up to 300 pages, allowing for longer and more complex conversations with Copilot.
The upgrade means a big boost for free users. Pro subscribers will be able to switch between GPT-4 / GPT-4 Turbo through the application settings.
This change comes after Microsoft announced plans last December to integrate Turbo into Copilot, starting with the paid tier. The free availability of the model marks a significant development in the popular AI tool.
On the other hand, after launching the Pro version, Microsoft recently announced that Copilot GPT Builder would be available to subscribers of the service. The company kept its promise last week. This innovation allows users to build their own AI models for specific purposes without software development knowledge.
