Hot on the heels of launching the Vivo X300 series earlier this month, Vivo has turned its sights to the next month. Rumors suggest the company plans to unveil the new Vivo S50 series in China next month. Ahead of the launch, reliable leakster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has leaked key details about the Vivo S50 and S50 Pro Mini.
Compact Pro Model and Flagship Processor Rumor
According to DCS, the Vivo S50 series will come in two different screen sizes. The Vivo S50 will feature a 6.59-inch flat screen with a 1.5K resolution. It will be equipped with a metal mid-frame and a periscope telephoto camera. The telephoto unit is said to include a flagship-quality mid-sized sensor, suggesting a significant upgrade in zoom photography.

The Vivo S50 Pro Mini, meanwhile, will be a more compact option with a 6.31-inch flat screen with a 1.5K resolution. Because it’s a “Pro” model, it’s expected to come with high-end camera hardware.
Both phones are expected to feature a 50-megapixel front-facing camera. The S50 Pro Mini is also expected to feature a triple-camera setup with a periscope camera and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for added security.
When asked about the chipset powering the series, the leaker hinted that the Pro variant will be a flagship chip capable of reaching 3 million AnTuTu scores. Previous leaks suggested that this device will be equipped with the Dimensity 9400, which powered the Vivo X200 series last year.
The Vivo S50 series will compete with strong competitors such as the Oppo Reno 15 and Honor 500 series, which are expected to launch in China around the same time. The question of why Vivo skipped the S40 series has also been answered. Due to the number “4” being considered unlucky in Chinese culture, Vivo is reportedly moving directly to the S50 series.
Vivo is also rumored to be working on the Vivo X300 FE for the global market. Considering that the China-exclusive S30 Pro Mini was previously rebranded as the Vivo X200 FE globally, the X300 FE is expected to be a rebranded version of the S50 Pro Mini.
