Qualcomm has announced that the 2025 Snapdragon Summit will take place in September. Following this announcement, speculation has increased that the Xiaomi 16 family will be introduced around the same time, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset.
Xiaomi 16 Series to be Powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite 2
Xiaomi and Qualcomm have signed a new multi-year strategic partnership agreement, strengthening their long-standing collaboration. Under this agreement, the Chinese brand will continue to launch high-end models supported by the Snapdragon 8 series in the coming years, as it has done in the past.

As part of this collaboration, the Xiaomi 16 will be one of the first smartphones to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor. Although the name Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 has not yet been officially confirmed, it is expected that Qualcomm will name its next-generation processor this when it launches toward the end of the year.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun emphasized that Qualcomm is one of Xiaomi’s strategic partners in its journey of global growth. He also stated that Xiaomi will continue to benefit from the performance of Snapdragon chipsets in its plan to secure a stronger position in the high-end market. Xiaomi aims to maintain its approach of developing its software and hardware ecosystem in close integration with Snapdragon.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi’s in-house developed Xring O1 processor will make its debut tomorrow in China with the Xiaomi 15S Pro model. Additionally, this chipset is expected to be included in premium and limited-production models such as the Xiaomi 16S Pro and Xiaomi 16 Ultra.
