THQ Nordic has officially unveiled the fourth installment in the Darksiders series. The Darksiders saga, which began in 2010 and is set in a post-apocalyptic universe, returns to the series’ roots with the new game.
Darksiders 4 Officially Unveiled
Darksiders 4 once again places players at the center of the story of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The new game brings to life one of the series’ most anticipated elements: all Four Horsemen will be playable characters.
The story of Darksiders 4 picks up where the first game left off. The main narrative, which followed Fury in 2018’s Darksiders 3, is now expanded with the inclusion of Strife.
Previous games focused on War and Death, while 2019’s Darksiders Genesis was presented as a side story. Darksiders 4 represents the first major step in advancing the series’ main storyline since 2018.
In the new game, players will be able to choose between each of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Each character has their own unique fighting styles, weapons, and special abilities. According to the announcement, Darksiders 4 will maintain the series’ action-oriented narrative with its cinematic narrative, fast-paced melee combat, supernatural powers, and fluid movement mechanics.
The game will be played from a third-person perspective and is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. No official release date has been announced yet, but the game can be wishlisted on Steam.
Darksiders 4 isn’t the only title THQ Nordic has announced. The company also unveiled other projects, including Reanimal and The Eternal Life of Goldman, at the event. The publisher revealed that there are currently 28 games in development, only half of which have been released to the public.
