NVIDIA is continuing its work on the GeForce RTX 50 series graphics card models. The next-generation graphics cards, named after American mathematician David Blackwell, will be built on the Blackwell graphics architecture and will be available to us next year. As the unveiling date for the new graphics cards draws near, leaks also continue to emerge.
Details of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series are becoming clear
The model codes for NVIDIA’s new Blackwell series are among the latest leaks. Accordingly, the major graphics company will use the abbreviation GB (GeForce Blackwell) and numbers in the 200s for its new models. It is expected that the entry-level model will be coded GB202, while GB203, GB205, GB206, and GB207 will symbolize other models.
NVIDIA previously used the 200-series code numbers in the “Maxwell” architecture. Those graphics cards were built on a more advanced node than the architecture was originally designed for and hosted more advanced features. We can expect to see similarly superior features in NVIDIA’s new Blackwell series.
NVIDIA has released the GeForce 536.99 Game Ready driver update, which includes performance improvements and fixes for some issues.
Another surprise with the new graphics cards is the absence of the “x04” coded model. This is attributed to the RTX 3070 and RTX 4070 with GA104 and AD104 code numbers falling below the expected performance levels. Instead, NVIDIA aims to deliver higher performance with the GB203 coded graphics card.
NVIDIA, continuing its efforts for the next-generation graphics cards, generally introduces their new architectures every 2 years. Therefore, we can expect to see the company’s new Blackwell architecture graphics cards in the second half of 2024.
