Geekbench test results for MediaTek’s new flagship processor, the Dimensity 9500, have been released. Tests conducted on the Vivo X300 model show that the processor fails to deliver the expected performance against the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. According to leaked data, the Dimensity 9500 achieved a single-core score of 2,352 and a multi-core score of 7,129.
Dimensity 9500 disappoints
These scores contradict previous claims and indicate that the Dimensity 9500 falls short of its expected performance. The processor’s core structure is also set to “1+3+4” instead of the “2+6” configuration as previously rumored. While the fastest core is supposed to operate at 4.20 GHz, it was observed to be below this frequency during testing. This may be the main reason for the poor performance.

For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 tested on the Galaxy S26 Edge significantly outperformed its rival, despite operating at 4.00 GHz instead of 4.74 GHz. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 achieved a single-core score of 3,393 and a multi-core score of 11,515, a 61% improvement over the Dimensity 9500. This difference clearly demonstrates the advantage of Qualcomm’s switch to its own custom core architecture.
According to these early leaked results, the Dimensity 9500 is expected to undergo optimization before launch, potentially improving its final scores. Furthermore, the processor may offer advantages in various areas, such as GPU performance and AI capabilities.
The Dimensity 9500 is expected to be announced on September 22, 2025. This date means the processor will launch one day before its rival, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. The competition between the two flagship processors will become clearer with more data and test results in the coming days.
