New claims have been made about the iPhone 17 series that Apple is expected to introduce this year. This time, the RAM capacity that will be included in the Pro models is on the agenda. While some analysts say that both Pro models will have 12 GB of RAM, more reliable sources have different opinions on this subject. So will Apple really offer the same RAM capacity in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, or will this upgrade only be made in the top model? Here are the details…
iPhone 17 Pro sparks controversy with RAM capacity
According to analyst Jeff Pu’s claim, Apple will use 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. Pu states that this RAM increase will especially allow new features supported by artificial intelligence to work better. He also suggests that this move will increase the DRAM requirement of a total of 100 million new iPhones, leading to an annual growth of 3.5 percent.

However, Pu’s prediction contradicts Ming-Chi Kuo, who is known as a more reliable source on Apple products. Kuo said in his analysis shared in August 2024 that only the iPhone 17 Pro Max model will have 12 GB of RAM, while the other models will come with 8 GB of RAM. Kuo also claims that the Pro Max model will have an additional vapor chamber cooling system.
When looking at Jeff Pu’s past predictions, it is known that although he gets some information right, he is sometimes wrong about the release dates and hardware details of the products. Therefore, it is necessary to wait for statements from more reliable sources to reach a clear decision about the RAM capacity of the iPhone 17 Pro.
On the other hand, Pu has other predictions about the iPhone 17 series. According to him, the iPhone 17 Slim model will come with a 6.6-inch screen and will be only 6 mm thin. It is also said that all iPhone 17 models will have a 24 Megapixel front camera. However, the claim that the iPhone 17 Slim will have a titanium case and the Pro models will come with an aluminum frame does not seem very likely.
