Twitter, which has been one of the constantly discussed social media applications of this period, underwent a significant transformation after being acquired by Elon Musk. Considering the recent developments, it seems that the platform is facing a challenging task. According to the latest information, an unfavorable restriction decision has been made for the social media application, which might not be well-received by its users.
DM restriction for non-Twitter Blue subscribers is on the way
Alessandro Paluzzi, known for leaking information in the technology sector, revealed that Twitter is working on a feature that will force all users to subscribe to Twitter Blue. As a result, the social media platform has decided to restrict the number of direct messages (DMs) for accounts that do not have a Twitter Blue subscription, and this decision will be implemented very soon, including in our country.
Looking at the image shared in Paluzzi’s post, if a user without a Twitter Blue subscription exceeds the daily limit of DMs, they will encounter a warning message. At this point, the user will be offered to purchase a Twitter Blue subscription for an unlimited messaging experience, and if accepted, the DM restriction will be lifted. Otherwise, the account in question will have to wait until the next day to be able to message again.
Twitter’s new announcement further enhances the privileges provided to its Blue subscribers. In addition to the extended character limit, subscribers enjoy various other benefits, including:
- Blue checkmark, indicating verified status
- Bold and italic text formatting support
- Folders for bookmarking tweets
- Custom app icon on phone applications
- Multiple themes and a customizable menu
- Ad-free article reading
- Reading Mode with adjustable text size for easier reading
- Ability to undo shared tweets
- Prioritized comments on tweets
- Video uploads up to 60 minutes long and 2 GB in file size
