The Dune series is preparing to return to the big screen with its third film. Adapted from Frank Herbert’s science fiction classic of the same name, the production will be shot based on the second book of the series, Dune: Messiah. It has been confirmed that filming will begin in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, on Monday, July 7. It is stated that the first set of the film will be built here, and then it will be moved to different cities and the shooting will last for months.
Dune 3 will be released
Dune 3 seems to have stuck to its schedule in terms of production schedule. The fact that filming started on the planned date indicates that the film is still on schedule for its December 18, 2026 release. Denis Villeneuve, who directed the first two films, is also in the director’s chair for this new production.
The film, as in Herbert’s novel, will cover the period when Paul Atreides reigned as Emperor. The story takes place in a time period that jumps approximately 12 years after the first book.

Although there has been no official statement from the production team, it is stated that the third film will include not only Dune: Messiah but also some elements from the third book of the series, Children of Dune. This information became clear when it was revealed that the casting for the two new characters that appear in the third book has been completed.
The cast includes familiar names from the previous films of the series. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa and Anya Taylor-Joy are returning to their roles. Robert Pattinson is also expected to join the cast, but no official statement has been made yet.
The production, which fans of the series have been eagerly waiting for, has already started to attract great attention in terms of both its production schedule and scope. So what do you think about this? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
