The latest Dune: Awakening patch brings another subtle but significant shift: more room for PvE players to explore the Deep Desert without getting caught in constant PvP crossfire. As Funcom continues to tune the endgame, it’s clear the goal is broader accessibility, without fully abandoning the high-stakes PvP crowd.
Dune: Awakening patch expands Tier 6 PvE zones

The biggest change in version 1.1.15.0? Tier 6 resources, the top-tier materials needed for late-game progression, are now more widely available across the PvE side of the Deep Desert. Until now, even after the earlier 50/50 PvP/PvE map split, high-value resources remained mostly locked behind PvP risk.
This update finally starts to correct that imbalance, giving non-PvP players more room to chase spice and minerals without facing ambushes from ornithopter squads.
Deep Desert PvP becomes harder to dip in and out of
Not every change caters to the PvE crowd. The update also increases the time it takes to exit a PvP zone from 5 seconds to 30. That’s a direct response to “border camping,” where players would dart in for quick kills and slip out before retaliation could land.
Now, committing to PvP means staying in for a while, intentional or not. If you cross the line, you’ll have to live with the consequences, especially if you’re hovering near crash sites or control points.
Dune: Awakening patch finally fixes the Landsraad timing issue
A third change focuses on the Landsraad, the faction-based system for endgame influence and rewards. Previously, players who missed the mission completion window were locked out of contributing entirely. With the new update, contribution still counts toward personal rewards, even after the task has technically ended.
This is a win for weekend warriors and casual players who couldn’t log in at the perfect timing.
What this means for Dune’s endgame
Here’s what the latest patch changed:
- Expanded Tier 6 resources in PvE zones
- 30-second PvP zone exit timer
- Post-completion contributions now count in the Landsraad
- Better balance for both casual and competitive play
Dune: Awakening keeps nudging the balance
This isn’t the first move away from all-out PvP, and it likely won’t be the last. Funcom is feeling out where the line sits between tension and frustration. For now, the Deep Desert is less punishing, and that’s good news for players who’d rather harvest spice than spill blood.
