Elden Ring continues to be a major sales success, surpassing all previous FromSoftware games. Accordingly, the game has sold more than the entire Dark Souls series, and is still breaking records two years after its release.
Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s best game
According to industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, prior to Elden Ring’s release, the entire Dark Souls series, which includes the three main games and six downloadable content packs, had sold 27 million units. Elden Ring has broken that record alone, selling over 28.6 million copies since its release.
The game’s success also extends beyond the main game. The first expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, reached a record 5 million sales in its first three days of release. This performance highlights Elden Ring’s remarkable commercial success for FromSoftware.
The report of the distributor company Bandai Namco shows that 37 million units of the Dark Souls series have been sold, including all DLCs. Elden Ring seems to be FromSoftware’s best production, almost reaching this figure in a much shorter time.
FromSoftware, on the other hand, wants to continue the Elden Ring experience in 2025. Accordingly, it plans to expand the story with the co-op-based Elden Ring Nightreign. The new game will make players different from the story-focused gameplay of FromSoftware productions.
