Helldivers 2, which launched on Steam for PC in recent weeks, continues to strain the developer’s servers with unprecedented player numbers. Struggling to keep up with the game’s high demand, Arrowhead Game Studios has imposed a temporary limit on the number of concurrent users.
Helldivers 2 servers have been capped
Released a week ago, Helldivers 2 broke the series’ concurrent player record with more than 333,000 players logging in at the same time. However, Arrowhead Game Studios didn’t think it could handle such a high number of users and had to make some adjustments to its servers.
Players started to experience problems such as quest rewards not being given or disconnections. Arrowhead has announced that it has cut server capacity to accommodate the increase in the number of players.
Although various optimizations were made on the company servers, it was not enough to maintain stability in player numbers. As a short-term solution, Arrowhead had to impose a limit of 450,000 concurrent users.
This means that the game will not accept more than 450,000 people. The dev team officially announced the cap in a message sent to the Helldivers 2 community over Discord, thanking users for their “patience”.
On the other hand, the company stated that this is temporary. It assured that it is working day and night to gradually increase the simultaneous player restriction.
