Samsung recently unveiled several Galaxy products, including the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6. The Galaxy Z Fold6 has been made 1.3 mm thinner and 14 grams lighter compared to its predecessor. Following the unveiling, information has surfaced indicating that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will be made even thinner.
Galaxy Z Fold7 to be Slimmer
The Galaxy Z Fold6 is nearly as heavy as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. According to a recent report by KEDGlobal, Samsung plans to make its next foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold7, as thin as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The report mentions that Samsung Electronics President TM Roh has instructed engineers to ensure the next Galaxy Z Fold phone is thinner than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Currently, the Galaxy Z Fold6 measures 12 mm in thickness when folded and weighs 239 grams. However, Samsung aims to further slim down the Galaxy Z Fold to gain a strong advantage in the global foldable smartphone market.
Recently, Honor introduced the Magic V2, which has overshadowed the Galaxy Z Fold6. The Honor Magic V2 is only 9 mm thick when folded, making it significantly thinner than the current Galaxy Z Fold6.
The KEDGlobal report also states that Samsung’s team is working on reducing the phone’s weight. There are also rumors that Samsung may release a Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim model later this year, which could be 10 mm thick.
The slim variant of the Galaxy Z Fold6 is expected to be launched as the Samsung W25 in China. Additionally, there is speculation that the slim model might feature a larger cover screen. Recently, it was reported that Samsung has made significant progress in developing the Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra/Slim model.
