Expedia brings ChatGPT plugin for travel planning

On Tuesday, the popular travel agency announced a new plugin with OpenAI. The new plugin allows users to plan their trips via ChatGPT on Expedia’s app. You can now start getting recommendations for your next trip, where to go, what to do, and the places to visit with ChatGPT integration. Additionally, the AI will save all the details you discussed, to offer better trips depending on your preferences.

Expedia Group Vice Chairman and CEO Peter Kern said, “Every great trip can be made or lost while planning and shopping. As the leader in travel tech, Expedia continues to build out the core operating system for the industry, constantly enhancing capabilities and making trip planning faster, simpler, and even more informative.”

He also added, “By integrating ChatGPT into the Expedia app and combining it with our other AI-based shopping capabilities, like hotel comparison, price tracking for flights, and trip collaboration tools, we can now offer travelers an even more intuitive way to build their perfect trip.”

Moreover, the online travel agency launched a plugin for ChatGPT. When you visit OpenAI’s ChatGPT, it allows you to choose the Expedia plugin to start planning a trip according to your preferences. Once you’re done, it will forward you to Expedia’s website to book your trip. While the system is now in the beta stage, the company says, “At times the experience may not work exactly as expected.” You can now try it on the Expedia iOS app globally.
