This week, we shared news that gamers are feeling uncertain about Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass and what to expect in the upcoming period. Microsoft addressed these uncertainties on social media by sharing important information. However, the news might not be pleasing to everyone.

Microsoft has confirmed changes to Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, drawing criticism. Starting now, with your basic Microsoft Game Pass subscription, you won’t be able to play all games on PC and Xbox on the first day. You’ll need a different subscription model for that privilege. But unfortunately, the bad news doesn’t stop there.
Especially concerning for Game Pass subscribers in Turkey: Microsoft announced that it will restrict users from accumulating long-term Game Pass subscriptions by consecutively renewing monthly subscriptions. Starting September 2024, Microsoft will limit subscription periods to a maximum of 13 months. This means even if you renew subscriptions consecutively, you won’t be able to accumulate more than 13 months beyond September 18, 2024.
According to the company’s FAQ section, as of September 18, 2024, the maximum extension period for Game Pass on consoles will be 13 months. This change won’t affect any existing accumulated time beyond 13 months in your account, but you won’t be able to accumulate subscriptions beyond 13 months after September 18, 2024.
The primary reason for this change is to transition Game Pass to the new Standard version in the future. However, the new Standard version won’t include many current advantages, including day-one releases.
In summary, if you currently have a Game Pass subscription, it’s advisable to extend it as much as possible at the current price of 209 TL before any new pricing or subscription model changes are implemented.
