Meta is radically changing the video content sharing system on Facebook. According to the company’s announcement, all videos shared on the platform will soon be available only in Reels format. Until now, users could share a video as a direct post or in Reels format.
Facebook has updated its video sharing format
Within the scope of this change, all short and long videos will be included in the Reels framework. Live broadcasts, on the other hand, will maintain their current functionality. Meta states that it took this step to make it easier for users to produce, share and access Reels.

The new system will apply to both individual user profiles and Facebook pages and will be implemented gradually worldwide. Meta is also preparing to completely remove some technical limitations on Reels videos.
The Reels duration, currently limited to 90 seconds, will be removed with this change. Thus, users will be able to share not only short videos but also longer content in Reels format. The name of the video tab will also be changed to “Reels”.
With this innovation, all video content on Facebook will be brought together under a single roof. Meta added a full-screen video player to the platform last year. This step taken by the company in its video strategy will simplify the user experience by combining Facebook’s entire visual content structure under a single format.
