Bethesda Game Studios’ highly anticipated Fallout 4 anniversary edition has arrived with a massive Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition bundle. This release, which includes the full base game, six official expansions, and over 150 pieces of Creation Club content, seemed like a great deal on paper. However, unfortunately, upon launch, it disappointed fans with numerous crashes, buggy behavior, and the breaking of installed mods. This is not uncommon for seasoned Bethesda RPG fans.
Why Does Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition Receive Negative Reviews?
It sits at a “Mostly Negative” rating on its Steam page. The reviews portray the game’s current state in both humorous and heartbreaking terms. Furthermore, complaints about the base game patch included with the new release have spread rapidly online. However, some players report that their games no longer launch at all after installing the update.

Players on Reddit and other platforms are reporting that the anniversary update “breaks the game and adds nothing but a UI update that lets you pay for mods.” In a separate discussion, one commenter wrote, “Breaking the game on the anniversary is a true Bethesda classic.” As a result, RPG fans continue to be disappointed.
It’s hoped that the developers will address the issues quickly and deliver a smoother anniversary experience. Just like Skyrim Anniversary Edition, which was released a few years later and was made more enjoyable with new content, Fallout 4 is expected to be fixed and bug-free soon.
