Microsoft has made an exciting announcement for fans and collectors of the popular game series. Ahead of the highly anticipated season 2 premiere of Amazon’s Fallout series, two new Fallout-themed Xbox controller designs, inspired by the classic Pip-Boy interface, have been added to the Xbox Design Lab library.
What are the features of the new Fallout-themed Xbox controllers?
Unveiled on December 10th, these special designs can be applied to both the standard Xbox Wireless Controller and the high-end Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 models. At the heart of the design are the series’ iconic green tones. Text and icons rendered in phosphorescent neon green accents on a dark green background give players a complete Wasteland feel.
The Vault Boy silhouette is located in the center of the controller, while details next to the buttons are noteworthy. The left analog stick features the word “move,” and the right one features “look.” Additionally, the left trigger button is labeled “V.A.T.S.” and the right trigger button “bash,” making a stylish nod to Bethesda-era games.
These special designs can be customized via Xbox Design Lab. The Pip-Boy themed skin is priced at an additional $14.99 for both models. However, Microsoft has launched a holiday promotion that runs until January 1st.
Currently, there’s a 20% discount on standard controllers and a 12% discount on Elite Series 2 models. Including the discounts and skin price, a standard Fallout-themed Xbox controller costs approximately $78.98 excluding taxes.
These new Pip-Boy designs join the Vault-Tec themed options introduced in March 2024. Microsoft is aiming to keep fans engaged with a similar strategy ahead of the second season, just as they did during the first season of the series.
