As you know, artificial intelligence and the innovations brought by artificial intelligence models are at the center of our lives. However, famous analysts argue that especially the iPhone 16’s slightly low sales figures, artificial intelligence features are not at all life-changing as introduced.
“iPhone 16 should not be considered an AI phone!”
Apple’s next-generation iPhone 16 fell short of expectations shortly after its launch. This criticism, voiced by many Apple fans, was finally confirmed by analysts.
Jefferies analysts stated that the iPhone 16 is insufficient in terms of new features and the limited support for artificial intelligence may have a negative impact on sales figures. Apple’s fan base is disappointed that a smartphone with AI features is expected to be on the market for at least two to three years.
In a note led by Edison Lee, principal analyst at Jefferies, it was pointed out that the expectation that AI technologies will already create a phone refresh cycle is quite premature. Following this report, Apple’s share price fell 2.3 percent on Monday.
Apple’s iPhone sales stand out as a closely watched performance indicator as it accounts for about half of the company’s total revenues. However, the concern that this latest iPhone model will not meet expectations has pushed sales forecasts to an unexpected level.
Analysts expect the iPhone 16 to perform similarly to the iPhone 15 in the second half of 2024. Edison Lee predicted that demand for this model will grow by only 2.5 percent.
Apple Intelligence, the artificial intelligence system announced by Apple in June, was touted as the company’s biggest step in the field of artificial intelligence. However, in July, Bloomberg reported that these features will not be included in the iPhone 16 and will be available in a few software updates starting in October. This greatly dampened the excitement of Apple fans.
Despite this, not all analysts think the AI delay will hurt Apple. D.A. Davidson’s Gil Luria says that he doesn’t pay much attention to iPhone 16 sales reports and that it’s a done deal that doesn’t even count in the company’s long-term plans.
