Ubisoft, which makes players feel like playing the same game every year with the repetition of Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry series, aims to hit the first scalpel with Far Cry 7. Ubisoft, which plans a system where the player will enter a 24-hour real-time story by throwing away almost all the mechanics of the game, has a question for the players: ‘If it’s in real time, what happens when you die in the game?’
How does real-time story and big change work?
The Far Cry series has left a strong mark on the gaming world with its vast open worlds, survival mechanics and memorable villains. However, the repetitive and uninspired nature of recent games such as Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 6 caused the series to lose popularity. Ubisoft, which has been silent about the new game of the series for more than three years, aims to reverse this situation with Far Cry 7.
Players will try to complete their missions in a 24 hour real time period (72 hours in-game) to save their families. However, if they are not successful within this period, the game will end. This mechanic promises players an experience that is both suspenseful and increases replayability. However, it also raises a question: ‘Won’t players go crazy after spending 10 hours and dying?’
This feature, which may restrict players’ side quests and open-world exploration habits, has caused concern among some fans. Ubisoft is expected to offer an alternate story ending instead of just a ‘Game Over’ screen in case of failure. This way, players won’t feel like their time has been wasted.
So, do you think this innovation is enough to save the Far Cry series? Will the time restriction add dynamism to the game but limit the freedom of the players? Don’t forget to share your opinions in the comments!
