    Farewell to the beloved iPhone

Apple has officially shelved the first-generation iPhone SE. This development has saddened many.

Apple has added the first-generation iPhone SE, featuring a small screen, to its obsolete product list. With this decision, the first-generation iPhone SE is no longer officially supported in Apple stores worldwide.

According to Apple’s own policy, a product is considered obsolete after seven years of discontinuation. The first-generation iPhone SE was discontinued in September 2018, so the device recently reached this seven-year mark.

The iPhone SE was launched by Apple as the most powerful phone with a four-inch screen. Apple announced at the time that the device “delivers exceptional performance with incredible speed, longer battery life, faster wireless connectivity, a 12-megapixel iSight camera with Live Photos and 4K video, and Apple Pay and Touch ID, all powered by the 64-bit A9 chip, also found in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.”

Apple’s former marketing chief Phil Schiller said at the time, “Anyone who wants a smaller phone will love the iPhone SE.”

After production of this model was discontinued, Apple released the second-generation iPhone SE in April 2020 and the third-generation iPhone SE in March 2022, respectively. Both the second- and third-generation devices share similar designs to the iPhone 8.
