General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) published the current fault line map of Turkey. On the map, it was determined that there are 485 live fault lines across Turkey. Cities and districts on these fault lines are listed in detail. The renewal of the map provided a clearer understanding of the earthquake risk.
MTA fault line map has been renewed!
More than 400 earthquakes, the largest of which was 4.8 magnitude, were recorded in the last 48 hours. These earthquakes revealed that mobility increased especially in the Western Anatolia Fault Zone. According to the map data, many cities are located directly on live fault lines.

List of cities located on a live fault line:
- Aksaray
- Aydin
- Balıkesir
- Bolu
- Burdur
- Bursa
- Bingöl
- Denizli
- Eskisehir
- Erzincan
- Erzurum
- Hakkari
- Hatay
- Izmir
- Kahramanmaras
- Manisa
- Mugla
- Kocaeli
- Konya
- Osmaniye
- Sakarya
- Tokat
These cities, which we see on the MTA live fault line map, are among the regions with high earthquake risk because they are located on fault lines. According to the map, Zonguldak, Sinop, Antalya and Ankara are among the cities that are not located directly on a live fault line. However, these cities are also in a position to feel the impact of earthquakes in nearby regions.
