God of War has become one of PlayStation’s most popular franchises. This means that Sony will return to the series before too long. Until now, many rumours had claimed that the next game in the series would be set in Egyptian mythology or be a new adventure with Atreus as the protagonist. But it turns out that the company’s plans are contrary to all these expectations.
New God of War game will focus on Kratos’ teenage years
According to Tom Henderson, Kratos will again be the main character in the next game of the God of War series. But this time we will see a younger version of the character. This means that we will return to the ancient Greek lands.
This important information was shared on the latest episode of the Insider Gaming podcast. Tom Henderson said, ‘From what I’ve been told, the God of War game is not set in Egypt. It’s actually set in ancient Greece again, and this time there will be a younger Kratos.’
According to Henderson, this highly anticipated game will not be connected to the so-called remakes of the original trilogy. The game, which is currently in development, could be a reboot of the series or a prequel to the first game.
Kratos’ backstory is set in God of War: Ascension and Chains of Olympus. In these games, we saw Kratos’ early years of service to the gods of Olympus, shortly after he was tricked into killing his wife and daughters.
