Techland, which has made a big impact with its zombie-themed action-adventure games, may have rolled up its sleeves for the new Dying Light game. The developer of the Dying Light series recently filed a trademark application for a title called Dying Light: The Beast. This indicates that the new game is in development.
Dying Light: The Beast trademark licensed
Dying Light 2 actually came out two years ago and was well received by players. In this context, it is thought that the company is working on a new game or expansion pack. Techland said in a statement that it will release DLC for Dying Light 2 in 2024. The name The Beast may also belong to this expansion pack.
The choice of The Beast name seems to be a reference to Kyle Crane, the protagonist of the first Dying Light game. In the Dying Light The Following expansion, Crane’s story was told after being exposed to a dangerous new strain of virus.
The character’s ending in The Following was left ambiguous, but many players assumed that he mutated completely into a savage Beast. The DLC pack for the second game could tell the story of this Beast.
Techland has given Dying Light 2 many updates since its release in 2022. This includes new modes, weapons and the Bloody Ties DLC. The Beast trademark has also fueled speculation that there could be a second story expansion.
However, some gamers think that the company has left the second production behind and is working on a new game. An intermediate game may be offered instead of Dying Light 3.
