Sony has been counting down to the launch of the Xperia 1 VII, a smartphone it has been working on for quite some time. So far, reports suggest that the device will offer flagship-level performance. Recent developments have also cleared up the confusion surrounding its official unveiling. So, when will the smartphone be introduced? Here are the details!
When will the Sony Xperia 1 VII be unveiled?
As is known, there have been many reports about the launch date of the Sony Xperia 1 VII, which has created a lot of uncertainty. However, the latest developments have shed some light on this topic and helped clarify things a bit.

According to reliable sources, the smartphone will be unveiled in Japan on May 15. It is expected to launch globally in July, though there is currently no confirmed date for the global debut.
Last week, the Sony Xperia 1 VII appeared on the Geekbench database with the model number XQ-FS54. It scored 2,967 points in single-core and 9,017 points in multi-core tests, indirectly revealing some of its specs.
The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (Snapdragon 8 Elite) processor and will feature 12 GB of RAM. Based on earlier leaks, a 16 GB RAM variant might also be available. Additionally, it will run Android 15 out of the box.
Previous reports indicate that the phone will sport a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. On the front, it will have a 12 MP selfie camera. Its dimensions are 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.5 mm, and the thickness increases to 11 mm when including the camera bump.
The rear camera setup includes a 48 MP main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12 MP periscope lens offering 70–200 mm optical zoom. While earlier leaks suggested all sensors would come from Sony’s Exmor T series, recent information indicates this may not be entirely true. The battery is expected to be at least 5,000 mAh with support for 30W fast charging.
