Garmin has just launched a hefty new beta update for its mid-to-high-end Forerunner smartwatches. Public Beta Version 16.11 introduces 34 changes for both the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970, giving users a wide range of fresh features, performance tweaks, and long-requested fixes.
Battery manager and sleep glance headline the Forerunner update

Beta 16.11 leads with a pair of standout upgrades. First is the new battery manager glance, which breaks down usage patterns and provides better insight into power consumption over time. It’s a step beyond simple battery percentages useful for runners and athletes who rely on extended GPS sessions.
Second is the sleep guidance glance, which now includes insights for ideal bedtime and wake time. Rather than just logging sleep duration, the Venu 570 and 970 can now offer recovery advice that fits into your training rhythm.
Timed workout plans and smarter notifications added
Training plans are also getting smarter. Beta 16.11 introduces structured programs for timed workouts, cardio routines, and optional strength training offering more flexibility to adapt to specific fitness goals.
Garmin has also refined how notifications behave during activity. Smart notifications can now be delayed until after a session ends, avoiding unwanted distractions mid-run or mid-ride.

Two extra features are exclusive to the Forerunner 570: voice-command navigation and support for the adventure race profile.
