The English version of Squid Game, the South Korean series that became a global phenomenon, has officially been announced. According to Deadline, David Fincher, known for noteworthy films like Fight Club, Seven, and Gone Girl, is expected to take the director’s seat for the project.
Squid Game, Netflix’s most-watched series, shattered all platform records by reaching 1.65 billion viewing hours within the first 28 days after its release. The original show, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, follows a group of individuals facing financial struggles who compete in deadly children’s games for a massive cash prize.
As you may know, the Squid Game universe expanded last year with the release of Squid Game: The Challenge, a reality show where real contestants faced similar but non-lethal challenges. The program received positive reactions from viewers and was renewed for a second season.
With the much-anticipated second season of the original series set to premiere on December 26, fans are curious about the storyline of the English version.
