Nintendo has confirmed that it will hold a detailed launch event for the Switch 2 in early April, but fans are still very impatient with the next-gen console. As we know, much of the information about the device has been shared by accessory makers who have access to realistic prototypes that are identical to the final version of the device. Some even gave their release estimates. Now, a former Nintendo employee has shared the official release date of the highly anticipated device.
The Nintendo Switch 2 mystery: When will it be released?
‘Sean’, a former Nintendo employee who previously worked in sales at Nintendo USA, recently spoke with his former colleagues on the Kit & Krista podcast about the company’s sales strategy.
According to Sean, the release schedule for the device will be as follows:
“They’re going to want to release the system before the end of the summer. I mean between the beginning of the summer and the end of the school year. That’s when kids get excited about the future. I think we’ll see a release in June.
The anticipated Samsung Galaxy A56 and A36 devices will support 6 major Android updates.
I think mid-June or a little later. But definitely before the end of the summer, this thing will be released… there are good strategic reasons for that to be part of the strategy.”
Sean was also asked about alleged retail leaks regarding the Switch 2’s release date and price. He denied that retailers had any prior knowledge of the company’s plans.
When asked what retailers know about the device, Sean responded:
“It probably won’t be out for more than a quarter. It always makes me laugh when I see things like ‘Walmart Canada says this is the price’… Walmart Canada is the last person who knows everything.
They don’t have that information. Even Target in the US doesn’t have any way of knowing… By the time we know the release date, retailers will probably know the release date. Maybe a week or two in advance. I think retailers will know about it on March 27, a few days before [the Nintendo Direct].”
As you can see from this, Nintendo is being very secretive about its information. This leaves us waiting for an official announcement.
