The biggest surprise of Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast has arrived. The long-awaited Forza Horizon 6 has been officially announced, and Japan has been chosen as the exciting setting. Playground Games’ announcements point to one of the series’ most detailed and layered open worlds to date.
Forza Horizon 6 Coming with a Japanese Open World
Playground Games Art Director Don Arceta confirmed in an interview published on the Xbox Wire blog that fan predictions were correct. Forza Horizon 6 will transport players to the stunning urban and natural beauty of Japan.

“While we can’t share many details at this time, we’re excited to show our fans the sheer breadth of beauty Japan has to offer,” Arceta said.
“From the neon lights and towering buildings of Tokyo City, one of our most detailed and layered environments to date, to the serenity and natural beauty of Japan’s rural and mountainous landscapes, we think players will be amazed by the open world we’ve built.”
The development team emphasizes that, rather than creating an exact replica of the country, they aimed to capture its unique cultural essence and present it in the most Horizon-style way possible.
The fan-favorite Seasons system, introduced in Forza Horizon 4, will also be included in Forza Horizon 6. Cultural Advisor Kyoko Yamashita confirmed that seasonal changes will profoundly impact the game’s world.
According to Yamashita, the team has succeeded in establishing a system that demonstrates how the seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter) “subtly change the tone, movement, and sound.”
It’s stated that great attention was paid to audio details to enhance the game’s immersion:
The team also prides itself on the attention to everyday details. Ambient sounds like station bells or summer wind chimes instantly place you there, without subtitles. These are quiet choices, but they carry a profound sense of reality.
Release Date and Platforms
More details about Forza Horizon 6 will be released in early 2026. The game will launch first on PC and Xbox consoles next year. A PlayStation 5 version has also been confirmed to arrive at a later date, a significant development for fans of the popular series.
