Samsung is preparing to refresh its flagship audio headphone series. The next-generation Galaxy Buds 4 Pro has officially been registered with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), overcoming the most critical hurdle before mass production and global launch.
Galaxy Buds 4 Pro is coming soon
Registered with the model number SM-R640, the device’s technical development process is officially complete with this certification, and it is confirmed that the product will be unveiled alongside the Galaxy S26 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event in early 2026.

The most notable hardware improvement in the new model is in battery capacity. Each earbud of the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro comes with a 57 mAh battery. Compared to the 53 mAh unit in the previous generation Buds 3 Pro, there is approximately a 10% increase in raw capacity. Samsung supports this capacity increase with software optimizations and an efficient new processor, offering a longer battery life than its competitors, especially with active noise cancellation (ANC) enabled.
In terms of design, Samsung is abandoning the lines it adopted last year, moving towards a simpler and more ergonomic structure. The sharp, triangular “blade” design of the Buds 3 Pro series is replaced by flatter and thinner stems.
This aesthetic change is not limited to the earbuds; the charging case is also completely redesigned. The vertical arrangement of previous models has been abandoned, and a structure where the earbuds lie horizontally inside the case has been adopted. This new case design facilitates the portability of the device while also increasing the impact resistance of the case.
On the technological side, the “Head Gestures” feature integrated with the One UI 8.5 software stands out. Users can control incoming calls, turn off alarms, and interact with the AI assistant simply by nodding their heads.
In addition, while pinch controls on the earcups are retained, new Galaxy AI-powered features such as instant language translation are expected to be offered to users with the Buds 4 Pro. With this new generation of headphones, Samsung is taking a strong position against competitors like Apple and Sony in terms of both engineering and user experience.
