Samsung’s highly anticipated new phone, the Galaxy S25 FE, has surprised many with its camera performance. In comprehensive DxOMark tests, the device scored far below expectations, falling behind even many older models. This raises serious questions about the phone’s camera capabilities relative to its price.
Why is the Galaxy S25 FE’s Camera Performance Poor?
According to DxOMark tests, the Galaxy S25 FE scored a total of 118 points, placing it 123rd overall. This score puts the device behind not only its current competitors but also phones like the iPhone 13 (released in 2021) and the Google Pixel 6a (2022 model). This appears to be directly related to Samsung’s hardware choices in its Fan Edition series.

However, according to experts, the physically small size of the sensors used, especially in ultrawide and telephoto cameras, is the most significant factor negatively affecting image quality. Tests reveal noticeable noise in both photos and videos, even in good lighting conditions.
The situation is not much better in terms of video performance. It is noted that HDR shots are inconsistent, scenes are underexposed, and white balance instability sometimes results in pinkish hues. Furthermore, loss of fine detail in portrait mode and image distortion in moving scenes are among the identified problems.
These results represent a serious challenge for Samsung’s Fan Edition series. With increasing competition in the mid-range segment, compromises in camera hardware are becoming increasingly difficult for users to accept. Indeed, DxOMark recommends considering alternatives such as the Xiaomi 15, 14T, or Google Pixel 10, which offer more powerful camera performance in this price range.
