New leaks have emerged about the Galaxy S26 design. Allegedly, the company abandoned a much more radical design idea for the series at the last minute. This has been interpreted in the tech world as Samsung opting for “predictability.”
Why was the Galaxy S26 design disappointing?
According to information shared by reliable leaker Ice Universe, Samsung engineers were initially working on a very different design prototype for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This design featured a vertical camera bar unlike any existing model.

The leaked prototype featured a single camera island aligned vertically on the phone’s rear panel. This design was thought to give the series a fresh and “iconic” identity. However, Samsung has decided to abandon this bold design.
The company opted for a safer path instead of radical innovation. With this latest decision, the Galaxy S26, especially the Ultra model, is expected to feature a camera setup very similar to the current Galaxy S25 Ultra and, consequently, the S24 Ultra. This is seen as a disappointment for users who were expecting a change.
Samsung’s decision is being interpreted as the company hesitating to take bold steps. At a time when its competitors are experimenting with different designs, Samsung’s decision to stick to its familiar design language is considered a “predictable” but less commercially risky strategy.
