A major development has emerged regarding Samsung’s highly anticipated flagship series. According to the latest information, the Galaxy S26 processor will predominantly be Snapdragon, an assertion strongly supported by comments from Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon. This statement could signal a significant shift in Samsung’s long-standing processor strategy.
Qualcomm CEO on the Galaxy S26 Processor
During an appearance at CES 2026, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon stated that he expects his company’s market share within Samsung’s flagship Galaxy phones to remain stable at around 75%. Amon emphasized that despite Samsung’s strategy of working with two different suppliers, Snapdragon will maintain its dominant position in the premium segment. Consequently, these remarks are being interpreted as a clear sign that Snapdragon chips will be more widely used than Exynos, even in the Galaxy S26 and S26+ models.
Furthermore, reports suggest that the top-tier model, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is expected to be equipped exclusively with Qualcomm’s latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, across all global markets. For the other models, the Galaxy S26 and S26+, Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2600 processor might be used in some regions, but the general preference appears to be leaning heavily towards Snapdragon.
A Deeper Partnership Than Just Supply
Cristiano Amon also revealed that discussions are underway for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset to be manufactured using Samsung’s advanced 2nm production process. This development highlights the deepening strategic partnership between the two tech giants. However, this powerful hardware may come at a cost. Rumors suggest that Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S26 series at a higher price point compared to the Galaxy S25, reflecting the significant hardware upgrades.
