Rumors of a delay for Samsung’s new flagship, the Galaxy S26, are growing stronger. A new report from South Korea supports rumors that the series’ launch could be postponed from January to March.
Why will the Galaxy S26 series be delayed?
According to South Korean publication The Elec, the main reason for the delay is the cancellation of the S26 Edge. Due to low sales of the S25 Edge, Samsung abandoned the model. Instead, it decided to reintroduce a Plus model similar to the S25 series.

This sudden change of plan necessitated the re-development of the Galaxy S26 Plus. While development of the Standard and Ultra models has been completed, the Plus model will take another 1-2 months to complete.
Samsung initially aimed to begin production of all three models in December. According to the new plan, production of the S26 Ultra will begin in December. Mass production of the Standard and Plus models has been postponed until January.
Industry officials say starting with the Ultra model, which is expected to account for more than half of total sales, is the most efficient option. Production of the standard model has also been shifted to January, likely due to shared components like OLED panels.
