After months of uncertainty and confusing rumors, a new leak, allegedly related to the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, suggests that the major camera and hardware upgrades fans have been waiting for are on the way. Instead of minor tweaks, the new models in the series will finally feature bold improvements that will rival their rivals.
The Galaxy S26 series will arrive with a camera upgrade
The most exciting part of the leaks is Samsung’s decision to abandon its long-criticized 3x telephoto camera strategy. Both the standard and Ultra models are expected to switch to a much larger 12MP 1/2.55-inch sensor, replacing the smaller sensors they’ve used for years. This is a move that will significantly improve zoom clarity and overall photo quality, especially in low light.

Rumors circulate that the Ultra model’s camera could reach up to 50MP resolution, but this information hasn’t been confirmed yet. The standard and Plus models will also receive significant camera upgrades.
The ultra-wide camera on both the S26 and S26+ models could be upgraded from 12MP to 50MP resolution. The 50MP main camera is expected to feature a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor, the same size as the 200MP sensor used in the current S25 Ultra. This will significantly improve photography performance.
The Galaxy S26 series is also expanding in terms of key features, as well as camera hardware. The entire series is said to feature Samsung’s next-generation M14 OLED panels with QHD resolution.
- S26: 6.3 inches (The current S25 uses a 6.2-inch 1080p sensor)
- S26+: 6.7 inches
- S26 Ultra: 6.9 inches
The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s battery capacity could be increased from 5,000mAh to 5,400mAh. However, it remains to be seen whether this increase will maintain the device’s thickness. As previously mentioned, device performance will vary regionally.
The series will be powered by either the Exynos 2600 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipsets, depending on the region. It’s now a possibility that even the Ultra model will be offered with an Exynos processor in some markets.
Leaks also mention a slimmer “S26 More Slim” model, unlike the canceled S26 Edge, featuring a 6.6-inch QHD display, dual 50MP cameras, and a roughly 4,300mAh battery. While the fate of this model remains unclear, it’s reportedly avoiding major compromises.
