Samsung is preparing to bring back the aperture feature on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. According to the latest information, the company is expected to offer this feature only on the main camera. The variable aperture will adjust the amount of light entering the camera sensor, allowing for better results in different shooting scenarios.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra may stand out with its new camera feature
Samsung first used this technology on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ models. At that time, the phones had a dual-aperture mechanism that could switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4. The f/1.5 aperture helped take brighter and clearer photos in low-light conditions, while the f/2.4 aperture offered sharper images in daylight.

This feature was also included in the Galaxy S10 series, but was removed with the Galaxy S20. It seems that Samsung is planning to bring back this technology with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, it is not yet clear whether Samsung will offer a fully variable aperture like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra or only two fixed apertures like the Galaxy S9.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature significant updates not only to aperture control, but also to camera sensors. Samsung introduced a telephoto camera with 50 MP resolution and 5x optical zoom in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The resolution of the ultra-wide-angle camera was increased to 50 MP with the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It is estimated that the 3x telephoto camera in the Galaxy S26 Ultra will also be updated with a 50 MP sensor.
Considering Samsung’s approach to developing camera technologies, the variable aperture feature could significantly improve the photo and video performance of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. So what do you think about this? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
