Although the potential of generative artificial intelligence is increasingly on the agenda in the gaming world, major game studios are taking their steps in this area with extreme caution. Despite the advantages offered by artificial intelligence, companies that lead the sector such as Electronic Arts, Take-Two and CD Projekt RED use this technology in limited areas, considering the negative reactions that may arise from the player base.
Why don’t game studios use more artificial intelligence?
According to information obtained from within the sector; Although these companies see artificial intelligence as an inevitable part of game production, they avoid using this technology in sections that directly affect the player experience.

It is thought that players will react to the replacement of human-made content with AI-based productions. At the same time, there is a concern that artificial intelligence can reduce the workforce and that the social perception it will create can damage the image of the companies.
Another risky aspect of the use of artificial intelligence is the issue of copyright. It is stated that AI models benefit from previously published content during the training process, and this creates an indirect risk of plagiarism in the content produced.
Copyright lawsuits that may arise if elements developed with AI are directly or indirectly similar to existing works are forcing game companies not to risk their billions of dollars of investments. CD Projekt CEO Michał Nowakowski had previously stated that AI-supported content poses serious copyright uncertainties.
