Mod makers are stepping up to the plate to save The Day Before, the highly controversial zombie shooter that failed to live up to its promise and received a lot of Negative ratings on Steam just days after its release earlier this month.

Despite being one of Steam’s most requested games, The Day Before disappointed gamers eagerly awaiting its release due to trademark disputes, accusations of fraud, and controversy over free labor.

Following the disastrous launch, the game’s developer, Fntastic, announced its decision to shut down the game, refund all players, and take the game offline on January 22, 2024.

However, in a surprising turn of events, mod makers Luci0 and fskartd took it upon themselves to create an Offline Mod aimed at extending the game’s lifespan beyond the impending shutdown.

Luci0, one of the mod makers, emphasized that at this early stage there are no promises or specific timelines for the completion of the project. “It’s still very early and me + fskartd are doing the best we can: More information to come when it’s available.”

The mod makers have managed to bypass Steam’s DRM (Digital Rights Management) and gain access to all the game’s files. Although they have successfully loaded the game map, they are now faced with the challenge of getting the player character to move around.

The decision to work on Offline Mode for The Day Before is quite intriguing, especially given the game’s poor reception and widespread belief that it lacks any redeeming qualities.
