Genshin Impact will soon vanish from the PlayStation 4, marking a final chapter for its last-gen journey.
Genshin Impact removal from PS4 begins this fall

HoYoverse announced that Genshin Impact will be removed from the PlayStation Store on PS4 starting September 10, 2025. Once delisted, new players won’t be able to find or download it on that platform. Those who’ve previously downloaded the game can still re-download it later, but that window is closing fast.
By April 8, 2026, update support on PS4 will come to a halt. The console will no longer receive patches, and players won’t be able to log in. HoYoverse cited hardware constraints and installation size limits as the reason for the shutdown.
Genshin Impact in-game purchases will be disabled
Before support officially ends, the PS4 version of Genshin Impact will shut down its in-game store. That change hits on February 25, 2026, disabling all purchases via the PlayStation Store and inside the game itself. Any unclaimed items purchased before that date can only be retrieved by logging in on another platform, like PS5.
Here’s the full shutdown schedule:
- Sept 10, 2025 – Delisted from PlayStation Store
- Feb 25, 2026 – All purchases disabled
- Apr 8, 2026 – Final shutdown and login lockout
Cross-progression keeps your Genshin Impact data safe
Progress won’t be lost in the shuffle. Thanks to cross-progression, players can shift from PS4 to another platform without leaving their characters, quests, or currencies behind. You’ll just need to log in using the same account on one of the supported systems.
PS4 users lose access, but Genshin Impact thrives elsewhere
The end on PS4 doesn’t signal the end of the game. Genshin Impact continues full support on PS5, PC, iOS, Android, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. HoYoverse shows no signs of slowing, just focusing.
HoYoverse builds beyond the screen
Meanwhile, Genshin’s world is expanding far past the digital. HoYoverse has been developing a long-term anime project with ufotable, known for its work on Demon Slayer. Short animated promos have already dropped, hinting at what’s brewing, and it’s more than just fan service.
The DualShock fades, but Teyvat marches on
One platform out, many still in. PS4 players may be saying goodbye, but the story of Teyvat hasn’t hit its final act. The wind still howls, just on newer hardware.
